How do I find the right lawyer?
It is essential to look in the right place. You should look to find a law firm that specializes in the area in which you need legal assistance. Even more so than other professions, lawyers need specific training to understand the legal nuances of each area of law. Just because a firm says that it has significant real estate law experience does not mean that they have ever litigated a tax lien foreclosure matter. Would you want your tax lien investment to be a firm’s first foray into the legal nuances and challenges of tax lien foreclosure litigation in a particular jurisdiction?

Look for a firm with a team approach. You want a firm that will put all of its resources toward your legal needs and know that all of your legal matters are being handled in a professional and efficient manner. In tax lien foreclosure litigation, the ability to meet all specific deadlines is essential to protecting your investment and maximizing investment returns.

Look for a firm with a strong client base. The tax lien industry is compromised of small, individual investors to large institutional investors. If a large scale institutional investor is willing to rely on the services of a particular law firm such as our own, then it is highly likely that the firm has the requisite experience and expertise to effectively litigate your tax lien foreclosure. You should ensure that any prospective law firm you hire has experience representing larger scale institutional clients.

Technology is a part of every successful business. The ability to utilize the forefront of technological innovation is essential to quality and efficiency.

Trust your instincts. Speak with an attorney and determine whether or not you trust that he or she will work to resolve your litigation needs

If you would like to discuss your legal needs with one of our attorneys please fill out a contact form.

When can I file a foreclosure action? When does my certificate expire?
Depending on which state you acquired the tax lien certificate, there are different redemption periods.  Redemption periods vary by state and can be a short as six (6) months and as long as three (3) years.  Once the redemption period expires, your legal remedies vary greatly depending on the issuing municipality.

Our firm only accepts new clients and cases where the deadlines of these initial redemption periods can be met to ensure that we are prepared to promptly file according to state and local statute to protect your investment.

Our litigation strategies are simple, yet effective:  whenever possible, file early, file promptly, litigate aggressively, push towards a prompt resolution, be it redemption or property.

To understand the deadlines of your specific jurisdiction please complete a contact form and one of our staff will contact you to discuss your legal options.
